  1. Paul Chaney Says:

Heck yea, I’m interested. Keep me informed. Love the tagline btw. Funny.

  2. Connie Reece Says:

Shoot dawg, yeah. I’d be interested. It’s a right fer piece to travel to New Yawerk City or all the way out to the Left Coast for conferences. Besides, you can’t get decent grits outside the South, and that’s what breakfast is for.

  3. Connie Reece Says:

Aw, now my feelin’s are hurt. I read the About section and it sounds like if we live in Austin, we’re not welcome. I know Texas ain’t the DEEP south, but just how deep are y’all gonna get at this SxDS unconference?

  4. ike Says:

Connie, you’re always welcome. And so is anyone else in Austin.

You’ve got to admit — it *will* be fun to take a road trip, rather than having all those smelly bloggers trying to save a buck by crashing on your sofa.

  5. Toby Says:

Please come to ATL ;-) and this Yankee from Boston now Southern ‘diva’ would love to play with y’all.

  6. Connie Reece Says:

Thank you, Ike. No bloggers crashed on my sofa, btw; I have boundaries, even for that big-initial conference that takes place in my home town. :)

  7. Anne Adrian Says:

I am certainly interested in meeting many of you! Keep me posted. I’ll be watching the feed for more information. And, thanks for starting this.

  8. Mike Driehorst Says:

Maybe it should become a traveling unconference, or maybe like a progressive dinner: Ya’ll can come up to the Midwest, and then we can move on to another location? A day or two in each spot.
    Mike

  9. Paul Chaney Says:

Belle, you’re absolutely welcome. You’re a true southern diva if ever there was one.

  10. Ike Pigott Says:

    @Mike -

We can certainly copy the template and share it around. Don’t expect bands and a music festival, but we can rock with information.

  11. Robert French Says:

Sounds cool. Maybe I can even bring / send some students, too!

  12. Mike Sansone Says:

Love the sound of this fest. Dig the genesis of it even more:-) I’ll be there even if there’s is not yet a there there.

  13. Dana Franks Says:

I am in like a dunk by Jordan. :) And if it ends up being in Huntsville, our station would like to sponsor, if there’s a way to sponsor with publicity and not money. ;)

  14. Brandon Morgado Says:

Holy Crap! What an awesome idea!
Where are we talking about? Birmingham? Atlanta? Nashville?
    I’m in regardless.

  15. Arcane Code Says:

Sounds like a blast to me. I figure either B’ham or Atlanta for a central hub. B’ham would probably be a bit cheaper in terms of a location and lodging, and be a closer drive for an awful lot of folks.

I also know there’s a BarCamp in the works for April, and in May the TechBirmingham group is putting on TechMixer University at the Sheraton / BJCC.

Key things are finding a) a location that will have us, b) sponsors, and c) a date.

    Let’s get started!

  16. Mack Collier Says:

Here we go! I think Bham, Nashville and Atlanta are the obvious choices. Or hell even Memphis I guess.

  17. Brent Says:

Atlanta for sure! And in the meantime let’s see about getting a re-vamp on the page/logo so that people actually ‘believe’ we’re not all rednecks using MS Paint…
    :)

    (i’m on it…. )

  18. mojodenbow Says:

I’m hip. Let’s see where this goes!

  19. Susan Reynolds Says:

Wow - I’d love something closer to DC that wasn’t so - er - DCish. I may be a Great Lakes girl but marrying @condopro from Macon gives me an in at SxDS.

Would love to see this happen and do things laid back and small town like only you can do. Just don’t make me wear an LSU sweatshirt and I’m good.

  20. studionashvegas Says:

Count me in. South By seems fun, but it’s such a drive.

The great people of nashvegas welcome the thought of a conference without the need to fly (far).

  21. Karen Russell Says:

    I’m in!

  22. jimdye Says:

Definitely interested! Now following on Twitter.

If it is held in Nashville, you could set up the music piece as well.

  23. darrindickey Says:

    Count me in! Great concept!

  24. Lizzie Keiper Says:

I’m in! This sounds awesome. :)

  25. lalunablanca Says:

Hey Y’all! Looking at the map, Birmingham, Montgomery?, or Chattanooga look pretty central. I’m in Memphis. I think Atlanta is way to honking big!! (and I get stuck in heavy traffic e-v-e-r-y-time)
